Stour Vale runs Professional Studies (PS) sessions as a key part of our ITT courses. Co-constructed with our university partners, the sessions are a key part of each course and give trainees the opportunity to learn from experienced, currently-serving teaching staff.

Held at our training Hub and occasionally in our partnership schools, our PS session also support our trainees to develop an appreciation of different contexts. They also get to hear, first-hand, from a range of experienced, excellent practitioners.

PS sessions cover the full range of knowledge and skills required to understand life in school. Our trainees cover topics such as behaviour management, differentiation, safeguarding, and lesson planning to name just a few.

We also focus on key aspects of educational practice that supplement trainees’ subject knowledge, pedagogical understanding of educational issues, and awareness of the wider educational landscape.
