The Stour Vale Regional Training Hub brings together the best elements of a traditional university PGCE, and a SCITT-based PGCE, into a single programme. As the Regional Hub Plus for the University of Worcester in the Black Country, we work with a wide partnership of placement schools across Dudley, Sandwell, Wolverhampton, South Staffordshire, and South Shropshire. This means our trainees can access an Ofsted Outstanding course – with full, high-quality university input and support – closer to home.
With full-time or part-time, and specialist Early Years, SENDi and PE options available, our Primary PGCE pathways allow trainees to develop their understanding and expertise through a blend of classroom experience, practice, and research. Trainees spend the majority of their training on placement in local schools right from the start. Taught sessions delivered from our local training Hub complement their school experience, providing a high-quality blended approach of support and input from university tutors and expert teachers.
Upon successful completion of the course, trainees gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
