We describe our shared approach to leadership as ‘secured autonomy’. Each school’s context is unique. Headteachers, school leaders and school staff working in Stour Vale member schools and settings have the deepest knowledge of their own context and the greatest understanding of how to maximise continuous improvement within that context. In Stour Vale headteachers, leadership teams and staff are empowered to lead responsively. This autonomy is secured within the structure of our multi-academy trust. Our model of challenge and support for impact, underpinned by our shared ethos and values, ensures sustained improvement and a sharp focus on outcomes for children and young people. This approach enables us to develop the most innovative and impactful school improvement strategies, and to grow, attract and retain excellent leaders.
